Inventory #1: BB Creams nightmare

Now I've constantly been complaining that I have too much makeup, so much so that sometimes when I read my own comments, it feels like I'm exaggerating about how much I own. So to justify my rants, here is the start of my inventory series of what makeup I own as of mid May 2012. First up, what gets my inner bitch going, BB creams!

Opened

1.  Skin Food Mushroom Multi BB Cream SPF 20 PA+ in Shade 2 50g
2. Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF42 PA+++ No. 23 Natural Beige 50 ml
3. Dr Jart Black Label BB Blemish Base SPF 25 PA++ 50ml
4. Skin79 Super Beblesh Blam Triple Functions SPF25 PA++ 40g
5. L’egere White Multi BB 50g (hmm it states there is sun protection but doesn’t list the SPF or PA…)
6. Hanskin Glossy Magic BB Cream 10ml

Unopened

7.       Maybelline BB  Cream SPF26 PA+++ in Light 18ml (ridiculously tiny)
8.       Skin79 Intense Classic Balm SPF35 PA++ 43.5g
9.       Ampm skin ecological defense BB cream 30g
10.   Missha Signature Real Complete BB Cream in No. 23 Natural Yellow Beige SPF25 PA++ 45g
11.   Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream in #2 Sheer Glowing Skin SPF30 PA++ 60g (!)
12.   BRTC Gold Caviar BB Cream SPF20 PA++ 40ml

Looking at it, the amount of BB creams I have is pretty outrageous considering that I bought most of them in the same time period while I was suffering from the BB cream craze! What’s worrying is that 3 of them have listed expiry dates for the end of this year and some of the opened ones are approaching the one year mark. In short, I have a lot of BB creams to finish this year!

Skin Food Coconut Milk Rich Hand Cream makes my hand feel greasy (and soft)

Skin Food Coconut Milk Rich Hand Cream

I bought this in Korea, December 2010. As it was the middle of winter and South Korea was freaking cold, so much that I almost froze my toes off while waiting for the bus, my hands were naturally dehydrated and in much need of moisturization. So while heading to a shopping district, I passed by a Skin Food shop and in the midst of browsing the aisles, came across the hand cream section. The sales assistant (I am shocked by how many sales assistants in Korea can speak Chinese!) recommended this as the cream that most gals bought in winter. So I purchased it, lo and behold…

It’s a thick cream that wouldn’t slide off your skin unlike some other creams. It has quite a strong fragrance and you only need a little to make your hands feel well moisturized. There is a slight greasy feel to it that I don’t appreciate, but I guess it’s because I’m using it in humid Singapore which isn’t really the right place to use it, since it’s hand cream for Winter. There is also quite a strong perfumed scent, while not unpleasant, is not something I look forward to smelling either.
During the days I spent in Korea, thanks to this cream, my hands did not peel or crack so it did its job; however, I don’t appreciate the smell or the thickness of it here in Singapre, so I’m giving it a solid:
3/5 – I don’t regret purchasing it, but I’m not going to buy it again

P.S. I'm so busy with my internship I barely have the time to do anything productive!

Review: Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm

Burt’s Bees Honey Lip Balm

A nice little lip balm that I bought from Guardian  Mannings in Hong Kong. Yes, they sell Burt’s Bees in some of the bigger Mannings in Hong Kong and having heard great things about the Burt’s Bees lip balm line, I decided to grab one of every flavour of this twist up lipbalms…forgetting that I had ordered 4 Burt’s Bees original Lipbalm from Amazon.com and they were on their way in the mail, from the US to Singapore.
So how did I find taster of the Burt’s Bees line? Well it’s a thick waxy lipbalm that is very different from the soft melt-on-your-lips type of lipbalm that I’m used to. It feels pretty hard and doesn’t deposit much product unless it warms up via the environment or through the heat of my laptop. When it’s all warmed up and soft, it glides on like a dream leaving my lips soft and moisturized, the perfect medium between too much and too little product.
As for the taste, I can’t detect any honey taste to it. In fact, it taste and smells more like a scentless lipbalm, which is nice after some horrific experience with lipbalms that gave me nausea from the mere smell of them.
The best part of this lipbalm?

Just look at the ingredient list, virtually all the products seem less chemicalized and without preservatives. (Tocopherol is a vitamin E derivative) So I do feel safe putting this on my lips since I tend to eat my lip products quite a bit.
In summary, I love the Burt’s Bees line but strong emotions are devoid in this product. So it scores a middling:
3/5 – I don’t regret this purchase but I’m not buying it again.

Project Pan empties - the sample edition

Now, the rationale behind this batch of empties is that I simply have so many samples and deluxe size samples that using them up takes quite a lot of time and effort, especially since I have to neglect my other products. I used to yearn for samples and once I get them, I proceed to happily toss them in my box dedicated to holding samples and then never touch them. So in order to compensate for this, I have drafted out some guidelines:

Samples outline

1. Samples are divided into skincare and makeup

2. 10 samples are counted as 1 full size product

3. 3 deluxe size samples (regardless of the size of the actual product) are counted as 1 full size product

Some might argue that 10 samples are a lot less than a full size product, but there certainly are enough products in the market that you can use up in 10 days if you really put your mind into it. As for the third rule, some deluxe size samples have only a week of use in them (those mini korean brand skincare tubes) while others are good for 3 months (looking at you UDPP) so it all evens out in the end.

So without further ado, here are the items for this month:

51. Skincare samples

52. Skincare samples

53. Skincare samples

54. Skincare samples

55. Missha Super Aqua Refining toner/ Missha revitalizing emulsion/ BRTC MediStem collagen toner
