Alright, I confess, I completely failed the 31 days of blogging. No road is without pebbles (or boulders in my case) so let's just march on and post as much as I can. Though terribly late, here's the makeup that I bought after I finished my project X Pan. I bought most of them before I left for Japan and the last on the 31st of July!
The haul
1. Silkygirl Funky Eyelights Pencil in 02 Ocean Blue
2. Silkygirl Funky Eyelights Pencil in 13 Ever Green
3. Silkygirl Funky Eyelights Pencil in 11 Electric Blue
4. Silkygirl Precision Brow Liner in 01 soft black
5. Silkygirl Magic BB Powder Foundation SPF20/PA+ in 03 Medium
From the heavenly creatures collection, thanks to their beauty, I broke my rules and bought my first lip items of the year! Since I'm breaking it, why not share sin around
6. MAC Cremesheen Glass in Galaxy Rose
7. MAC Cremesheen Glass in Astral
8. Lóreal Infallible in 031 Innocent Turquoise. Sheer, sparkly, extremely wearable blue
In the dark crevasses of my makeup mind, I truly love sparkly OTT makeup...except on myself. The lack of lid space and small asian eyes are probably the primary cause. So this eyeshadow is a god-send since its sparkly and sheer, giving it an everyday natural blue look. Definitely not something from the 80s.
If you recall, I had this tube of BB cream that was squeezed flat and during my Project 100 pan video, I proudly declared that it would be done within a week.
Since I was extremely bored, I decided to squeeze out the remanants of the BB cream into my empty concealer jar.
Lo and behold,
My BB Cream
I originally thought that there would only be a small squirt of product...
Seriously. I pumped that BB bottle until my left and right thumbs hurt! Finally it stopped dispensing product, but by my estimation, I would have spent more than a month in anticipation, wondering when the product would just die.
This is why makeup lasts so long. This is also why I'm screwed as I have so many foundations/BB creams/concealers to run through!
P.S. Should I take consolation in the fact that by the time I finish them all, foundations would be at rocket science level, where it just looks like skin? (I wish)
Wondering how many years this is all going to take me,
Woot, can't believe I'm writing this 2 days in a row! So here are the makeup stuff that I bought from Japan.
Grand photo of the gang
I can't read a word of Japanese though. So selecting items from the drugstore is a true test of your makeup knowledge, to know what is what!
1. Integrate Eyebrow powder in BR631 (making up names as I go along)
This is an eyebrow liner I believe. And it's in the colour green! An affordable way for me to try moss green eyebrow liners.
2. Integrate Eyebrow liner in Green
Kate is so much cheaper in Japan as a true drugstore brand, coupled with a 30% discount made it irresistable.
3. Kate lipstick in BR-9
I hunted all over for this brush which is the drugstore version or maybe the actual Shiseido 131 foundation brush. It really does work well for powder and liquid foundations!
4. Shiseido foundation brush 131
Who can resist this wonderful packaging. A tribute to my love for manga and 80s manga styles! There was actually a Mine Fujiko liner from another brand but after swatching both, this seems more smudge proof and pigmented. I love all these 'spokeswomen' though.
5. Creer Beaute Oscar Impact & Cool Eyes (what an awesome name!)
6. Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight Eye Palette (not featured here, only above)
7. Bobbi Brown Creamy Color for Lips & Cheeks in Pink Truffle
8. Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss in Twilight
Now you see why I have a shopping addiction when I can buy this much over 6 days...
Actually the title is a misnomer since I offically started on August 1 but I couldn't upload my video because of my card reader. So $8 poorer and a quick trip to Best Denki, here is my project 100 makeup pan!
I started this thanks to Trycel on youtube. Doing something like this has always been in the back of my mind but chickening out and doing long project X pans has always been my way. Unfortunately, after 6 months, I finished less than 20 makeup items! So now I've decided to do this, for real.
Why the sudden drastic action? That's because I'm a complete shopaholic. To say that Í've not known this to be true would be an absolute lie but now it's time to face the fact. I'm a shopaholic. 3 years ago, I went on a mad clothes shopping spree and emptied my bank account. I had to borrow money from my roommate just to have $20 in my bank account, the minimum amount needed to withdraw money from the ATM. Having sprees of over $150 every few days was common and my roommate felt bitterly guilty over introducing me to online shopping. Within a few months, I bankrupted my account AND the savings account that my parents put aside for my university/marriage/rainy day/retirement (delete when necessary). Pleading with my roommate to ask for $20 and looking at my rainy day savings account bank statement was when I hit rock bottom. The clothes are gathering dust in my closet now, most of them are ill-fitting, or too over the top/slutty and unwearable to say the least.
However, in the following year, I never did manage to save up much money. The reason? I was on a skincare shopping addiction. Following that, after reading some makeup blogs like smashedmakeupbag, I started on makeup last year. I hauled like makeup was the cure to cancer. There was a notable occasion where I bought 10 NYX round lipsticks at one go from cherryculture, despite not owning or trying a single NYX round lipstick yet! Thankfully, while working as a sales assistant in June last year, I managed to have an epiphany that I was wasting my money and now my savings account is at a respectable size once again. However, the habit (and I do mean it, it really is just a habit) of buying makeup whenever I'm bored/depressed/stressed still crops up and I now have so much makeup that it's ridiculous. Thoroughly ridiculous. I'll get my inventories up soon and you can see how much money I've spent over the year.
Of course, the root cause of this shopping addiction still exists, but trying to fulfill the vapid emptiness of my life by other means is an endeavour that will, I dare say, take a longer time than this project pan. So managing the symptons seem much more feasible and so here is my project 100 pan!
I might buy 1 item for each 10 makeup product used up, but I might not. I will probably count deluxe size samples as 1 items since I have so many of them, but only 10 sample satchets will be considered as 1 full size item. So after this long livejournal-ish rant, here is the start of my new resolution and Day 1 of 31 days of blogging challenge!
